Meet the Teacher

Hi! My name is Mrs. Oranchak (Mrs. O for short) and I am the Technology Literacy Teacher at Bowne-Munro!

I live here in East Brunswick with my husband and our two children. Both of our children attend EB schools. Before becoming a Stay at Home Mom I was a First-Grade teacher in the West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District. While home raising my family, I always found a way to stay true to my teaching roots. I was very active in their schools and classrooms. Two years ago, I re-entered the world of Education here in East Brunswick. This will be my second year with the Bowne Munro team, and I am so excited!!

I love the beach, hiking, taking pictures, spending time with my family and reading!!!! One of my goals as a teacher has always been to help my students develop the same love for reading that I have. I have always loved how books can transport us away from our daily life. I am always found with a book nearby, whether it be in my purse, my car, or my nightstand. I read for personal enjoyment and professional growth! I was raised with the philosophy that you need to read to succeed!

I also have a firm belief that technology holds an important place in the lives of our children. It is important that children of this era learn how to safely and effectively use technology. Technology is the wave of the future and we need to work to keep students educated and informed. It is my mission to educate the students and parents about internet safety.

In our Library, the students will be able to borrow books for their reading enjoyment. The older students will learn how to successfully locate books in the library using Destiny Quest and they will learn about the Dewey Decimal System. I will assist our younger learners to find books and characters of interest among the shelves.

In the Computer Lab, the students will learn to become safe, thoughtful and proficient technology users. They will explore and learn proper computing skills as well as the rules for Internet Safety. These skills will be built upon each year beginning in Kindergarten with basic computer skills moving up to more complex skills. For example, Kindergartners will learn the different parts of a computer, how to use a mouse, a few basic keyboard keys and they will learn to use a few basic applications. By Fifth Grade, the students will use applications to produce a product, plus so much more!

It is going to be a great year! Please reach out to me if you need any assistance along the way.
